30th Aug 2007
David Beckhams move to LA Galaxy has resulted in a surge of traffic to the MLS Leagues official website.
Traffic to mlsnet.com, the website of the US soccer league, according to the comScore metric the news site attracted just over one million Age 15-plus unique visitors (1,037,000) in July, 2007, up 117 per cent on the previous year's July figure of just 478,000.
The July 2006 figure had slipped to just 230,000 by December that year.
"David Beckham's impact on the MLS league's official website has been enormous," said Bob Ivins, EVP of International Markets at comScore, in a statement to the press.
"The player has single-handedly doubled the number of visitors to mlsnet.com versus last year, which let's not forget, was a World Cup year."
