Rugby Website Sold to ESPN
21st Aug 2007
US sports network ESPN is continuing its acquisition of sports websites following the recent takeover of cricketing website Cricinfo.com back in June.
This time ESPN have acquired rugby website Scrum.com for an undisclosed sum.
The site will join Cricinfo and ESPNsoccernet.com in the ESPN sports website stable in time for the Rugby World Cup, The Guardian Reports.
The Scrum.com website was originally owned and launched by Emap in 1997.
ESPN has acquired the website from parent company Scrum Ltd which eventually became the owner of the website - acquired for less than £100,000 from failed sports venture Sportal - after it had changed hands several times up until 2002.
