Website To Report on the Safety of 4,402 Bridges
27th Aug 2007
Michigan Department of Transportation is posting information about the safety of 4,402 state highway bridges on the MDOT website.
In wake of what happened in the U.S with the collapse of the Minnesota bridge it seems the MDOT want to restore confidence in the people.
Transport Director Kirk T. Steudle said the information was being made available to emphasize the safety of travel on state highway bridges and to assure the public that MDOT is actively inspecting and maintaining bridges in Michigan.
"This online information is a snapshot of the ongoing bridge maintenance and inspection work we do every day to ensure the safest possible travel experience for Michigan motorists,"
Bridge ratings can be downloaded by route number and/or county and are current as of August 15th and will be updated regularly.
The information is available at the following website Michigan.gov/highwaybridgereport
