Former Bertrams CEO Launches a Virtual Book Wholesaler Website

Ramon Gray the Former Bertrams CEO is launching a "virtual wholesaler" that will give bookshops access to two million titles sourced from around the world.
Broadwaterbooks.com, went live this week, links wholesalers including the UK's Gardners and America's Ingram and Baker & Taylor in a single online hub. It is similar to a price comparison website, with users able to log on, key in the title they want and compare the prices and delivery rates each wholesaler can offer.
Gray, who is also CEO of online academic retailer swotbooks.com, said that discounts will generally be better than those independents are getting already. "In ordering from a wholesaler in the traditional way, bookshops have to keep a certain level of orders in order to trigger a certain discount," he said. "But here everybody gets the same price because it's our best price."
