When YouTube meets Cooking
03rd Oct 2007

(Review)

Cookshow.com is a new online culinary community created by two Frenchmen who left the financial world to pursue their greatest passion: food.

The idea for this site is that all the recipes are filmed, so you no longer need to look for a recipe on the Internet and see that the written instructions alone are not sufficient to prepare the recipe.

In its simplest definition, Cookshow is the ‘YouTube for cooking’; bringing together chefs (professional and amateur alike) from around the globe to share favorite recipes and tips through online video. Reading a recipe for an Italian dish is one thing. Watching someone make it in her kitchen in rural Tuscany is quite another.

Cookshow have created a new concept that should combine all the features of a cooking lesson, a TV cooking show and a classic website providing written recipes.

The site includes short video recipes (filmed by users), tips and tricks, some thematic articles on health and nutrition, and a blog. And with a focus on community, it was only natural for the site to have a humanitarian side.

Every time a new recipe is posted, Cookshow finances the food rations needed to treat 8 severely malnourished children.

Now that should be reason enough to start cooking, recording and sharing.
