Office of Fair Trading Warning Consumers of New Scam
03rd Sep 2007
The Office of Fair Trading is warning consumers in the UK to be aware of a new scam which involves fraudsters purporting to be from the Office of Fair Trading.
Tricksters are telephoning members of the public to try and obtain personal details.
The fraudsters are asking for no other than personal and financial information, including bank account details, saying they need the information for the OFT to reclaim bank charges on their behalf.
Fraudsters are likely to use the information for identity theft purposes, to run up bills or commit crimes using stolen details.
For further advice you can call Consumer Direct on 08454 040506 or visit the scams area on the OFT website at Oft.gov.uk
