Software Developer Sues Founder of Online Discussion Forum
12th Sep 2007

The founder of a popular online discussion forum is being sued by an accounting software company in Australia.

The company 2clixsoftware.com is suing Simon Wright who operates Whirlpool.net.au for publishing comments the company alleges are “false and malicious”, says the legal action affects all online discussion and even film reviews.

2Clix is suing for at least $150,000 (plus costs), and is demanding that two forum threads be removed from the site.

“What’s to stop movie distributors from threatening anyone who publishes a negative review of the latest film?” Mr Wright told NEWS.com.au.

A statement of claim purportedly from 2clix has been published on the Whirlpool website Whirlpool.net.au/img/article/2clix/soc.pdf
